Dexter is an American drama television series that centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), an analyst at spotting pattern for the Miami Metro Police Department moonlight as a serial murderer. The program debuted on October 1, 2006, on Showtime and the fifth season ended December 12, 2010. December 2, 2010, the program has been renewed for a sixth season. Located in Miami, the first season of the series is largely based on the novel Dreaming Dexter dark by Jeff Lindsay, the first of his series of novels by Dexter. The following seasons have developed independently of the works of Lindsay. It was adapted for television by James Manos Jr. screenwriter who wrote the first episode.
