Dexter is an American television series on the Showtime premium cable channel in the United States. The series is based on characters created by Jeff Lindsay for his "Dexter" series of novels. It first aired on October 1, 2006. The series follows the life of protagonist Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a Miami Metro Police Department blood pattern analyst with a double life. Although the investigation of murder in the homicide division, Dexter hunts and kills the murderers and criminals who have escaped justice. Located in Miami, centers around Dexter Dexter Morgan, a serial murderer who works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst. Abused and neglected as a child, Dexter was adopted by a police officer and trained to curb their innate urges to kill by hunting and brutally murdering only those vicious criminals have managed to avoid the clutches of the law. Based on the novel, dark Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, Dexter stars Six Feet Under, Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, Jennifer Carpenter as Deb's sister, Julie Benz as Rita Bennett girlfriend, and many others.
